Exhibition of Portrait Drawings and Paintings in Honour of Prof. A.R. Salihu

The exhibition of portrait drawings and paintings in honour of Prof. A.R. Salihu took place on 6th February 2022 at the Department of Fine Arts Gallery, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The exhibition celebrated and marked his retirement from the university, recognizing his contributions to academic and artistic development. The artworks on display were produced by undergraduate students of the Department of Fine Arts. Each piece focused on portraying Prof. Salihu through different artistic interpretations. The students explored a range of materials, styles, and techniques, which highlighted both their individual creativity and technical abilities. This diversity gave the exhibition a rich and engaging visual character.

A total of twenty-seven portrait works were presented. The drawings and paintings captured not only the physical likeness of Prof. Salihu but also attempted to express his personality, legacy, and impact within the university community. The exhibition attracted a wide audience, including distinguished professors, faculty members, students, and other members of the university community. It served as both a tribute and a moment of reflection, bringing together art and appreciation in honour of a respected academic figure. Overall, the exhibition stood as a meaningful gesture by the students, using portraiture as a way to celebrate, document, and honour the life and career of Prof. A.R. Salihu.
